We are a Chromebook Classroom!

We are a Chromebook classroom and we use them in our music classes.  There are two places outside of this website where we can find our things for class.  Google Classroom and Canvas are the two places that we go to!

We will use google classroom for the majority of our work which you can access through your apps button in the top right corner of your student Gmail. Our lesson plans and substitute teacher plans will be posted there for you. To get started, you will need to go to the google apps button, click on the google classroom icon, and click on JOIN class.  Below are links to my classes.

(Links will be active in August)

    • Homeroom “Reef Class”
    • 1st Period –
    • 2nd Period –
    • 3rd Period –
    • 4th Period –
    • 5th Period –
    • 6th Period –

We will use CANVAS for testing and that is located on your Bay District Schools (BDS) Launchpad.   Your class will be automatically added and you will see a folder for our class.

PE Waiver Information

PE_Wordle

Physical Education Waiver Information

If you are interested in waiving your PE credit this school year, there are a few requirements. Singing and acting are both physically demanding. You need to make sure you are involved in regular cardio and muscle maintenance exercises. These essential activities, outside of school hours, can include daily workouts at the gym, playing a sport or dance.

The benefit of waiving your PE requirement would be that you can take an additional elective (say choir, musical techniques, band, or yearbook). It is important to note; physical activity is vital to the whole person (you).

At Surfside, we have a genuinely fantastic PE program, top-notch instructors, and we encourage personal attention to a performer’s health (which should be of highest priority).

Parents will need to submit a simple letter, addressed to the school, requesting to waive the PE credit at this time. Parents may also wish to mark the PE waiver box on the course request forms given to their students after the school year.

Click on the link below for the information you need to turn in to your guidance counselor.

Prior to our adventure, the choirs will be preparing strange music (called incidental music)  that plays in the background of a movie and we will be adding voice-overs for popular characters in Universal movies!  The vocal coaches guide us through the entire recording process and we are given our product at the very end!   The students and I have had a blast changing up the characters of their beloved movies.  (Students have access to the music through Google Classroom)
