The festival program for which FVA is most well-known, Solo & Ensemble, draws in more than 100,000 students each year, representing every county in the state of Florida. “I still have my Solo & Ensemble medals” is a statement regularly heard by university music staff from generations of festival participants who take pride in this long-time tradition, which creates memories and skills for life. Students will include their medals on their graduation cap and gowns. Through the Solo & Ensemble experience, students learn the discipline of rehearsal, are challenged to advance their musical skills, perform in front of an audience and adjudicator, and receive feedback on their performance. Those that perform at the highest level (Superior) at an FVA District Festival have the opportunity to receive a 1* (one-star) rating which advances them on to State Solo & Ensemble Festival (middle schools are not included at the state level.
Each year over 32,000 students (11,000+ events) qualify at district festivals to perform at State Solo & Ensemble festival making this event one of the largest of its kind in the nation. These students represent the student talent and high quality of music programs in Wisconsin’s schools.

RECORDING ON A REAL UNIVERSAL SOUND STAGE AND HAVING A GREAT TIME AT THE PARKS!!!
Take a look at what we will be learning!
Prior to our adventure, the choirs will be preparing strange music (called incidental music) that plays in the background of a movie and we will be adding voice-overs for popular characters in Universal movies! The vocal coaches guide us through the entire recording process and we are given our product at the very end! The students and I have had a blast changing up the characters of their beloved movies. (Students have access to the music through Google Classroom)
The Secret Life of Pets (Vocals and Parts) – Will be available shortly.
Here is the piano track for our work on The Secret Life of Pets! We will practice the 2 part arrangement in class and be ready to record with our band! We will meet for a few rehearsals after school to practice with the band.
