There are literally millions of beautiful vocal solo pieces out there and hundreds to look through from the Florida Vocal Association site (which often lists selections according to the book they are in rather than by song title).
To narrow an overwhelming list down, I’ve collected a few great beginner vocal pieces, put together a youtube playlist, and found a youtube practice version with a great vocal demonstrator/teacher. Find one that fits your range and communicates to your audience.
HAVING ACTUAL COPIES OF THE MUSIC
We will need to have access to the printed music (3 copies – 1 for the pianist, 1 for you, and 1 for the director/adjudicator), many of these I have the books for already, and we can purchase any of the needed books through the choir account.
I would like for you to chose from what we have on this beginning list, take a listen to them, find a favorite, and let me know which one you would like to try. If your song feels a bit high or too low, still let me know, I might be able to find it in a different key/edition.
